Please don't be offended by this, I am curious but what did it look like when you miscarried if you passed it naturally. Nothing is up now, I'm just curious.

I have a friend who isn't really tracking her cycles but she was on the pill, and during her period she had some really bad clotting and something else she described it as an opaque white clot of something in the TP and she was wondering if it might have been a MC. I figured you guys might have some insight.

It depends on how far along you are....I have lost 3 at various stages...from lots of blood clots and profuse bleeding to expelling tissue mixed w/blood. The last one I needed a D&C since I was in the second trimester.

I told her she should go to get it checked out... I'm worried about her. I just wanted to get an idea of what to expect and i'm going to call her and let her know.

Please tell her that she should get checked out. She may need a D&C depending on how far along she was. This sounds bad, but if there are any remains, they could cause a terrible infection. My heart goes out to her and you are a good friend for helping her get informed.
I'm glad I'm off tomorrow I will take her myself and be there for her is she needs anything. I know this is going to mess with her head, I'm just glad she said something and I have you girls to turn to help answer her question.

I'm really late to this, but thought adding my two cents could be helpful. I had cramps the whole time I knew I was pg. Then the day before I really m/c and the red flags went up, I had cramps that shot up and down my spine. I couldn't sit, stand, walk, NOTHING. I was paralyzed by the pain. It was at least 2 hours of dealing with this (curled into a ball bawling my eyes out) before I started to feel better. I did have cramps after that, but they weren't near as bad. MIL told me that she had the same thing when she was pg so it didn't send up a flag for me. As for what it looked like, I was ony 4w4d when it passed and it looked like a small (smaller than a pencil eraser) white blob. I only know because I stopped the heaviest of bleeding after that.
Please tell your friend to get checked out. There can be lasting effects if everything doesn't pass and all. GL and WTG for being such a supportive friend. I'd be interested in a f/u post.
Re: Serious miscarriage question
It also hurt. a lot. more than any regular 'ole period cramps. It was like I couldn't walk hurt.

Moo - my first m/c was exactly like what you are describing.
((hugs)) for your friend.
