vaseline alternative for labial adhesion

Took DD to the doctor today due to fever and vomiting.  Doc suspects it's some kind of bug.  In examining her, it was discovered that she had some labial adhesion.  In order to keep it from adhering again, he told us to use vaseline a few days at every diaper change.  I would like to use a more natural alternative.  Any suggestions?  We cloth diaper, so if possible I'd like to use something CD safe, too.  DD is so miserable with this virus, application of anything is going to be a real challenge... any tips?

Trust me when I say that labial adhesion isn't something you want to mess with.  DD#1 had severe adhesions that re-adhered after opening once.  We ended up having to use premarin cream, which I really didn't want to do.  There was just no choice once the opening was completely closed.  We initially used vaseline with diaper liners and our cds were fine.  I'd go that route, unless you can find something that works as well as vaseline.

You could try gobs and gobs of coconut oil. But from what PP said, idk if you wanna mess around. IMO, aquaphor works as well as Vaseline.

Alba makes a non-petroleum Vaseline. Has the same consistency without the chemicals. I have found it at Whole Foods. Good luck!

Lanolin works as a barrier. It worked well for us.

You could try Jojoba oil? It is anti-septic, anti-fungal, anti-bacterial, anti-viral, anti-inflammatory, safe for babies, you can use it on ANYTHING!

It may not be thick enough, but you could try a layer of that first, then a layer or coconut oil, then a layer of vaseline?

DD's adhesion was on the the inner labia, so I would put vaseline in there and liberal amounts of coconut oil or baby bottom balm on the outside. It has gone away now, so I only apply it once a week or so. We use CDs and haven't had any issues using this method.

Vaselin has been banned from my home since my daugther broke out 3years ago, got my aromatherapy license and make my products. There are great DIY non vaaseline balm recipes if you are up to or purchase one. Coconut oil is good too just do a test on skin to make sure tthere are mo flare ups

DS had a lot of irritation around his groin and we found that Lanolin was easy to find and works super well for him. It's a great barrier and doesn't soak in/rinse off when you need something to create a barrier.

Calendula works wonders for this type of irritation! Either straightup calendula or a product that is completely toxinfree with a calendula base, like Ava Anderson.

Honest company healing balm is what I use for DS diaper rash and excema and it feels a little like Vaseline. It is cloth diaper friendly and more natural.
