Random sharp pain in side (not long lasting).. normal?

Good Day,

My first appointment with my Dr. is not before 8 weeks (June 10, 2013) and I just had a sharp pain on my right side enough to make me flinch although it did not last long.  Is this normal?

I certainly will be adding this to the list of things to mention to my Dr., however was wondering if anyone else has experienced something similar?

Thanks!

  • I have noticed random abdominal pain, from stretching, think it's perfectly normal.

Totally normal. I had several random pains in the early weeks. I wouldn't worry.

  • Definitely normal.  Sometimes, you can also develop a cyst on your ovary where you ovulated from that is supporting the extra hormones you need in early pregnancy....before the placenta takes over that task.  It can also cause occasional pains.  I had a lot of random pains in the first trimester, but once things stretch out initially, it stops.  GL with the pregnancy!

I've experienced a few of these already and had many with DD/LO#1.  She's now 23 months....going on 12 years.  Totally normal :-)

  • I've had a lot of the same pains but I'm pretty sure it's gas. Being 6 weeks I haven't had my first prenatal visit yet but my MD agreed that its gas pains. No spotting or bleeding so I'm not too concerned.
  • I have them all the time (up to a few times a day). They usually only last from about 30 seconds up to a few minutes, but are pretty severe when they hit.  I have been told it's totally normal and not to worry (I'm a little over 14 weeks and have been having them since 6 or 7 weeks)
