Food texture issues

At My LO 12 month appt his pedi said I needed to introduce as many textures as possible in the next month or he would have issues with textures for 3 years. He was eating mostly pur?es at that time. Now I give him a variety of textures and he handles it well.  Did anyone else's pedi say anything about this "window" of introducing as many textures as possible.

Re: Food texture issues

  • Our pediatrician wanted DS mostly off purees by 9 months, and onto mostly table food. The early you introduce a wider variety of flavors and textures, the better off, I think.

  • I have never heard of that, and I doubt it would cause problems for that long in every child.  Some, of course, but I don't think you'll irrepairably damage your LO's eating habits if you don't do it all.  DD has texture issues and I just keep offering the same things.  A month ago she wouldn't even touch a mandarin orange, now she eats them like a champ.
