Pumping - one lazy breast?

KTZ17KTZ17 member
My daughter was born last Friday at 31 weeks 3 days after a week of hospital bed rest due to high blood pressure.  She is in the NICU but was taken off cpap yesterday and is given my breast milk every 3 hours.  I have been pumping since the day after delivery and my milk came in on Monday, but only my right breast is producing.  My left breast feels like it's full, but when I pump only a few drops come out and I'm worried that my right breast won't produce enough for her soon.  Does anyone have any advice or has this happened to anyone else?  Will the left breast catch up?  Thank you!

My right breast produced almost nothing in the beginning but like yours felt full. I tried massaging it during pumping and that really helped. It still produces less than the other breast but feels empty after I'm done pumping and doesn't hurt it anything. Make sure you are drinking plenty of water!
