cradle cap at this age?

I noticed my 22 mos. old's head having  a few flakes. I just chalked it up to some dry skin. My DCP mentioned that it is cradle cap. Can they still have it at this age? Funny thing is that I never noticed it on him when he was a baby and had no to little hair. Is it something that can show up later?

If so, how do you treat it?

My DD has it too.  We make a paste with baking soda and a little bit of water and rub it on her scalp at bath time.  Rinse with water, no shampoo.

My 15-month old gets it from time to time. I rub a little almond or jojoba oil into her scalp after bath time.

DD had it when she was around 10 months, maybe a bit older.  I used olive oil.  Rubbed it in real good let it sit for 15 minutes then use a fine comb to get all the crap off.  Shampoo (a couple of times to get the oil out) and it never came back.

When LO had cradle cap, we put a little bit of olive oil on his head and let it sit for 5 minutes then washed out...get ready to comb out flakes and stuff, becuase it really worked and it was crazy how much came out. We finally tried after trying baby oil, that helped a little, but not altogether a few times.

All these ideas sound great. I am just afraid DS won't sit still long enough for me to get oil out or comb it out. He barely will sit in the tub anymore. Aggghh

All three of my kids have/had recurring cradle cap. The most effective thing I've found is applying Mustela, letting it sit for 10ish minutes, and scrubbing with a Bean B Clean brush.

I tried this tonight. I didnt see a big difference. Maybe I didnt use enough oil. It just seemed like I would really need to scrape the stuff out and I didnt want to do that. I may try it again.
