Babies: 3 - 6 Months

waking too early

DS wakes every morning around 6 on the dot. He wants to nurse back to sleep / stay in my arms.. if I try to put him back in his crib he immediately wakes up and won't go back to sleep unless I hold him.. then he will just be awake but super sleepy all morning until his first nap around 9 or 10. I know it's just his biological clock waking him up at the same time, and am not sure how I can help this? He also wakes every morning at 3:45 on the dot but it's easy to nurse him back to sleep at that point.

  • After doing much research, I think some babies are just early risers.  Her wake up time may just be 6 oclock, however 3 hours before her morning nap sounds like an extremely long time, maybe that's why she gets so fussy.  My LO is almost 4 months and she goes down an hour and half after getting up, which usually falls between 730 and 8.  She's not a good napper at all so it's usually only a 30 min nap but it relieves her crankiness .  After that point her awake times are closer to 2 hours.

  • Connor is up like clockwork at 6. He talks to his mobile and eats his toes for about 15 minutes then starts yelling for breakfast.

Yup. Mine's up by 6 most days. He will stay up for 1-2 hours, then have some sort of nap...20 minutes to 2 hours.

  • Emma is up at 6:30 am every morning. Some mornings I can get her to go back to sleep until like 7:30/8am but most of the time not. Then her first nap is around 9/9:30 am.

  • DD wakes up between 630-7 which I know isn't too early but since she doesn't sleep well I spend so much time awake nursing her in the MOTN and I can't function that early! I know it's awful because I should let her get up to start the day and begin a routine but usually I'll bring her in bed and nurse her while laying down and we'll usually both fall back to sleep until around 930.
