Alcohol and IVF

I know several people have weighed in on this in the past, but I'm curious. I'm not an alcoholic by no means, I can go without it. However, I seem to be much more relaxed when I have a glass or two. Right now, I'm just on BCP, and won't start Lupron until June 8th. Do you ladies think it would be OK if I had just a few drinks? I hope so, because I'm drinking a glass of wine now, and I already feel better! 

I guess I'm just looking for confirmation not to feel guilty. I told myself I wasn't going to drink at all as soon as I got on the pill. However, I just don't see how that is going to help anything. The way I see it, the more relaxed I am, the better...right?!

i don't think there is anything wrong with a few drinks....don't feel guilty!

Right...as long as you aren't doing keg stands I think you're fine.

I had drinks on BCP and stopped as I was stimming currently day 4 ill let you know if all goes well :

My RE says drinks are okay until injectables start. Different REs have different advice though. You should probably talk to yours.GL!

I drank until I started stims.  I didn't drink at all between starting them and the egg retrieval, but did have two glasses of wine between retrieval and transfer.

I drank a glass of wine here or there until Day 4 of stims. After that, I simply didn't feel like it even though my RE said it was completely fine. Just don't go crazy. Everything in balance, and listen to your body - yours might say, "NO MORE ALCOHOL" if you get a headache easily, etc. And just be sure to stay hydrated.

My doctor said I was fine to drink whatever before I started my IVF cycle. I was in Mexico for brothers wedding the weekend before I started stims so obvs I indulgeddon't feel bad about your wine now cause soon you won't be able to have any at all ;

P.S. my doctor also said wine was fine while stimming, just nothing after transfer. I only had about 3 glasses of wine total during 2 weeks of stims but it did help me relax and I got a BFP!

I was on vacation in St Kitts when I started BCP so I was definitely drinking! I stopped once I started stims. I think you're fine!

I drank the whole time through stims and everything.  I think I avoided the last day or two before ER just to ensure I was super hydrated, but I ended up with lots of healthy eggs!  I wouldn't worry about it a bit!  I will probably have a little wine after ET too...drink until it's pink, right?!

 If anyone has any medical journals or studies to the contrary, I would love to read them!  I just can't imagine what would be wrong with a few drinks here and there.  I actually quit drinking diet cokes and eating processed foods because of the chemicals but still enjoy a glass of wine or a couple beers here and there!

I did this on my first IVF as well. Personally, it was ok for me...

I read a medical study on this a while ago (sorry I can't find it now). It basically said light drinking is fine but heavy drinking will affect success rates. They defined heavy drinking as 4 drinks a week. Apparently I'm a lush! 

Im sure a few drinks won't do anything.

My clinic is has a "nothing after ET" rule, but I have a "drink until it's pink rule". Good Luck!
