REC Sound Machine

Can anyone recommend a white noise machine?  We are currently using the one that came with our pnp and used it for DD1 up until DD2 was born. But we recently moved to a smaller and much more open house and any livingroom noise is filtering directly to DD1's room.  I"m hoping to get a noise machine for both kids to help them block noise while we are awake and have guests over that DOES NOT auto turn off.  I always check both kiddies before I go to bed so I can turn it off or set a timer then.  Both girls are accustomed to the waves crashing sounds at this point.

Thanks!

  • this!  https://www.amazon.com/DEX-Products-Sound-Sleeper-SS-01/dp/B00008439C

It has both auto on/off and constant on. We leave it on all night, set to the "ocean" sound.  For naps, we'll put it on "rain".  Love it!

  • We've used the Homemedics Baby Sleep Spa one since DS was a baby.  Love that thing!  DD doesn't seem to need the white noise like DS always has, but when we move her to her own room we're going to introduce it.  Our house is small and I think it helps to have a bit of a noise buffer.  Plus it's soothing.  I actually like hearing DS's over the monitor at night :)

  • I use my iPod right now, I downloaded Sleep Pillow and just leave it running all the time. When we move into a new place I'm just going to order some basic sound machine from Amazon the iPod/iPad work well but my husband keeps complaining that she has the most expensive sound machine ever.

We use the same one with DS1. I don't have anything more than a fan for DS2.

  • We use the Homedics Sounds Spa and leave it on the white noise (aka waterfall) all night.

    We spent about $20

  • We used to use the Homemedics Sound Spa, too but it stopped working for them after Leo was about a month old. We switched to an old iPod and used coin change to buy iTunes cards for those Rockabye Baby lullabies. Works great!
