    Bursitis is inflammation of the bursa, which is basically a fat pocket between your muscles and bones. When it becomes inflammed you get pain. In order to treat it you have to strengthen the muscles, while not increasing the inflammation. For some ibproufen or tylenol work, for others a cortisone shot is necessary. 

    I got it when I was marathon training. It was very painful. It hurt to sleep on my side, it hurt to walk, it hurt to run. I ended up getting a cortisone shot and doing physical therapy. I learned some great stretches and exercises to strengthen the muscles in my hip as well as working on my core.
