Babysitting diff rates

Does your sitter charge less if your LO is already asleep for the night when they arrive?

Ours is 15 an hour and we've only used her one other time, and she comes highly recommended by close friends. Tonight she's coming over once LO is asleep, and will essentially be watching tv for three hours.

I totally don't want to under value her time, just seems steep.

Re: Babysitting diff rates

  • I would expect to pay her the same. Regardless of whether or not she has to actively watch your child or watch tv while she sleeps, she still has to take the time to be there.

Yeah. I probably wouldn't have even brought it up to her anyway.

She just cancelled though. Lame. Was looking forward to date night.

We always do some extras with ours like rounding up, so if it were 2 hours and 45 minutes at 15 an hour, we'd give her 50 bucks. If she doesn't have to do any real interacting with LO we don't do those extras.

That was my plan. Give her the exact amount. Last time we paid 70 for 4 hours instead of 60, because she had to get DS to bed.

I have nothing other than 15 an hour! Holy shiz that's more than I make at my job!
