Beco Gemini question

How do you know when to switch from a narrow base to a wide base? Is there a certain weight range or height when to switch or its it just a subjective thing?
Right now my LO's legs are still in froggy position, but the fabric only extends halfway down his thigh. If that makes any sense...

    I don't have them in front of me, but I think the instructions said you keep the base narrow until they're 15 lbs. My LO weighs just under 17 pounds and I unsnapped it about 2 weeks ago. HTH!

    Thanks for the responses.
    So DS weighs less than 15 lbs but he's very long and the base is not completely knee to knee. What do you think? Time to go for the wide base?
