My little man has been putting away 32 ounces on average of formula every 24 hours for about a month now, but out of the blue yesterday he took down 52 (yeah.. yikes) in 24 hours.. He seems totally fine health wise, so i don't think he's sick. No fever or anything. Could this just be a crazy growth spurt do you think? It just seems like an extreme jump all of a sudden. He also woke up for the first time in over a month in the middle of the night for a bottle. He's been STTN for about 5 weeks.
Re: Can a baby over eat?
A baby can overeat to an extent, yes. Especially with bottles they can just suck it down so fast and it keeps coming out even if they don't work for it. However, babies aren't going to overeat the way adults overeat. Their bodies naturally regulate better. I really wouldn't worry about it at all. Especially considering it's only a single day. I would imagine it's just a growth spurt.
To be completely honest, I feel like a lot of people pay far too much attention to their baby's food intake. In certain cases its necessary, under normal circumstances it's not. Feed them on demand and everything should be just fine.
