She has some valid points here, Hope I made it a  "clicky" link

What to Expect when You Aren't Expecting: Summertime Pregnancy

I especially like how its pointed out abou the fresh healthy food choices instead of the glottunous holidays in which I always over indulge. ;)

  • AMEN to all of it!  This is my 3rd summer pregnancy and I'll take it over the winter any day.

  • I agree with the food thing that's for sure. However, I am not looking forward to having to be outdoors to get to the Farmer's Market.

  • I have to agree with the majority of that. I had DS on 12/31, so I had to endure the chunky winter clothes, the dreaded holiday eating, etc. And I LOVE that I'll be able to sit out and get tan this summer while floating like a bobber in in our pool, hehe. I'm also excited to not have to stuff my sausage feet into "real" shoes. And I won't break out in tears because I can't put my own socks on!

  • Last time I started pregnant in the summer and this time I'll be at the end in the summer.  Since I work on the school calendar, I have to say that having most of the end of pregnancy off will be nice.  Although last time it was nice to be off most of 1st trimester.  I'm really looking forward to flip flops and maxi dresses!

My work blocks blogs so I cant read this but I disagree.  I loved being pregnant in the winter...less swelling, cute mat clothes that cover and make you look slimmer, baby born in the late spring means you can get outside and enjoy the weather during mat leave.  Now I get to watch everyone sit on our pontoon this summer and have summer shandy's and wine spritzers while Im the DD.  I have to find something to wear to summer weddings in August where Im going to be huge and over heating.....ugh....I don't know...maybe it wont be so terrible but it doesn't sound good at this point

  • I was just thinking yesterday that I actually like being pregnant in the warmer weather better. DS was a winter baby and I had all of the holiday eating , it gets dark so early that you can't get out and walk during the evenings and the clothes are more binding. I have been walking alot lately after work and I feel so much better! I think I will try for another summer baby next time too..

I have no complaints about being pregnant in the summer.  I am always cold so I love the heat, you need less clothing and it's cheaper and most important I do not need to wear "real" shoes.  My feet are already swollen and do not fit in any of my closed shoes.  I have been wearing sandals to work and flops the rest of the time.

The fresh fruit and veggies and the pool time are also nice bonuses!

Some good points here. Working outside through summer in Orlando in a theme park will be pretty darn hot.  But I'm still looking forward to it.  Can't really relate to the cold weather too much, but I can imagine crying bc I can't get socks/boots on. :)
  • Other than the swelling, I don't think it's so bad being pregnant in the summer and I certainly prefer it to being pregnant in the winter. It's much easier and cheaper to throw on a sundress and flip flops versus a heavy coat, sweater and boots.

As long as I have AC I'm all good.

  • I had a feb baby and a march baby. I really liked it actually. When I got hot, I could just go outside!

The only thing I didn't like was not knowing for sure how to dress a newborn in that flip floppy weather.

I am in Central FL also and have been feeling the heat. It is way too hot for me and I hate it.

My son was a winter baby and much easier comfort wise.

  • I hear her on the clothes -- you can get a decent pg wardrobe for less $ in the summer, for sure, but thigh chafing cancels that out.  And berries and stone fruits will be fantastic for keeping our GI tracts happy.  But summer is drinking time, winter here is mild and summer is hot (and a/c is limited), and i don't remember the rest, but i'm not convinced.

Diagnosed with Anti little c antibodies. DS1 7.11.11 - Anaemia and Jaundice. 10 days in the NICU, 1 exchange transfusion and 4 blood transfusions. DS2 29.8.13 - Anaemia 7 days in the NICU and 1 exchange transfusion. Both are now happy and healthy.

  • Agreed! So many great things about a summer pregnancy but fresh fruits and veggies is the best.
