Morning schedule

I will be returning to work next week when lo is 8 weeks. What is your morning schedule if your taking them to daycare. He eats at 4 am like clockwork. Do I put him back to sleep just to wake him at 6? He goes to bed at 9 so that's only 7 hrs of sleep if i kept him up. Also I bf do I pump before leaving? Im a ftm and trying to figure out a good routine without his sleep suffering.

Re: Morning schedule

  • My schedule was feed between 5:00 and 6:00 am. If LO got up earlier than that I would feed then and pump around 5:30 just to stay on schedule. It may take you a few weeks to get into a good routine and to figure out what works for you.

My LO wakes up at 4 to eat and I leave for work at 6:30.. so I lay her back down to sleep and then wake her up about 30 minutes before we leave for daycare I change her and feed her again even though it has not been all that long but I figure it will tide her over and I don't have to pump that way.. Not sure if that is best but it is what I do..

I have a Daughter born 2/26/2013. She is pretty much amazing!

  • Our schedule is to feed him when he wakes up anywhere from 3 AM to 4:30 and we all go back to bed. I wake up at 6 and start getting ready. By 6:30 I pump and make the bottles for the day (I EP) and I'm out the door by 7. Typically LO does not wake up again until DH gets him up for the day. If he is already up, DH changes him into "normal clothes" and change his diaper. If he is still out, he loads him up as is and takes him to his mom's house by about 7:45.

My best suggestion is to think how much time you will need and add an extra 30 minutes to an hour for the first week. That way you don't feel rushed.

  • Should I try putting him down earlier since we're starting the day earlier. He usually goes back to sleep from 5 to 8 after the 4 am feed. We will have to be out the door by 6:15am.
