My daughter has had a fever between 100-103 since Saturday AM...Last night night it reached 105, so we brought her to the ER. They did a chest xray to check for pneumonia, a catheter to check for UTI, flu and strep swabs, and everything was negative. Motrin brings it down, but then it is back up again after it wears off. The pedi wants us to monitor it and bring her back on Wednesday (unless it reaches a very high temp again before then), but I am worried sick..what could be causing this? ANyone have a similiar experience? Thanks
Re: 19 month old with very high fever
We had a similar experience and it was roseola also. Once the fever breaks you would see a slight rash a few days later if it is roseola. My dr said a fever that gradually gets high is not as worrisome as one that goes really high from nothing. He also said to dab her with a mixture of alcohol and water on her back with a wash cloth to lower it fast. But I would only do it if your pedi says its ok. I know it's scary not knowing what's wrong. Hope she gets better fast.

DS just had a stomach flu last week and his fever spoked to 104.5. We put him in a tepid bath and gave him Motrin and it came down to 101. We were able to keep it around 100 to 101 by alternating Tylenol and Motrin, one or the other every three hours, even through the night.
It's hard to see your little one sick! Hopefully she will feel better soon.
Eta: She, sorry.
My daughter had a similar experience a few months ago. It was just a nasty virus. Her fever would go from 101-106. We took her to the pedi and even had an ER trip where they did the very same test. The doctor told us to alternate tylenol and motrin to help control the fever and it would just take time to pass.
Good luck and hope your LO feels better soon!
