I just watched youtube labor videos. they have every technique and type of delivery documented. I had a natural delivery to a 9lb boy so I def. did fine without the class. Everyone I know who did said it was a waste.

My husband and I took a Lamaze class course. While I knew close to everything about it already, it was still really helpful to have everything taught as well.
I think for my next baby (and subsequent ones if I like it) I'll try hypnobirthing.

We took the classes that the hospital offered, I thought is was great. We learned about all types of births, labor coping techniques, breast feeding, and newborn care. Sure, I guess I could of just read books or whatever (and I did) but it was great for DH and I learned things too. I think it was especially good for DH.
I ended up with a scheduled c-section because DS was breech, I'm still glad we took them. I wouldnt have known the importance of a lactation consultant, or how to cope with the dissapointment of a c-section. They talked a lot about how your plan is usually not what happens. I needed that!
I never took them with DD and I dont regret it. During my labor before the epidural (about 4 hours of my 14 hour labor was without an epidural) I just took deep breaths and focused on the breathing and I made it through. I guess if I had planned on going natural they might have been helpful.
I took one and it was great. I didn't get a ton out of it, but DH got a ton out of it. But our instructor was pretty awesome, which can really make all the difference.
What class did you take?
