After researching different brands and types this brand remains at the top of my list.
What have your experiences been like with these diapers?
I know it's not wise to start a stash of one type of diaper before tying them personally but would you choose to use these diapers solely over other brands?
Thanks
Re: Fuzzibunz one size elite
Have you used the hemp inserts for nighttime?
I have the older style, so I can't speak about the new style they just brought out.
They are extremely narrow (and I have very small hands), which makes it tricky to stuff them.
I'm pretty sure I have a good fit, but I've had a lot of leaks with them. I think it has to do with the minky inserts. I'm not a fan. I'm going to switch to bamboo (hopefully this week), and see if that helps.
They are much smaller than my BG 4.0 pockets. My daughter will probably grow out of these quicker than my others. If you have a family history of larger babies, you may not want to consider these.
To me, the elastic is a bit of a pain to adjust, but it does give more of a custom both around the legs and the waist, which is nice for skinny babies.
And no, I would not use these for overnight. They are very narrow and if you overstuff them (which would be easy), you will get a gap in the leg. I prefer using a cover and prefold for nights. It's much easier, more forgiving, and you can easily put a hemp insert or two behind a prefold without causing gaps.
I have many brands, including Fuzzibunz OS Elite. However, I have the pre-2013 version (not the newest version that just came out). I agree with pp that they are very narrow, which makes them fit nice and trim, but also prone to leaks. The minky inserts definitely don't absorb enough for my DS. The fit, even with the adjustable leg and waist elastic is odd and doesn't work that well for me. Pretty much all the other pocket or AIO diapers I own (BumGenius 4.0s, Elementals, Freetimes, Flips, Blueberry/Swaddlebees, Rumparooz, Thirsties AIO) fit better than my Fuzzibunz.
Pocket diapers in general don't work that well for my baby for longer than a couple hours, so definitely not for overnights. I use Imagine Smart Fit prefolds with a Thirsties hemp or Thirsties Fab doubler and a good cover (Blueberry coverall, Rumparooz OS or Flip) most nights. I also like Sustainablebabyish fitteds and a cover for nights.
FB OS/OS Elite were my favorite until DS was about 4 months old, at which point I had to adjust the leg elastics. Then I had leaks every single time I put one on my DS. I stripped them, double stuffed them, changed to hemp inserts, and pretty much everything else I could think of but in the end it came down to fit and I just couldn't get it right. So, I sold off all but my favorite colors which are currently on a shelf awaiting baby #2.
I haven't tried the redesigned Elites, though. Maybe they are better.
No I haven't.
I do have some of the old version and the new 2013 version. The new ones aren't as narrow.
I have pre-2013 ones, the new ones have wider pockets and MF instead of minky. I have over 15 different diapers and FB elite are a favourite. They fit as soon as the cord came off at 9 days, they are so trim they fit under jeans (instead of going up a clothing size like I do with other diapers). They are more difficult to stuff, DH couldnt do it with his big hands, but I have no problem doing it (and the new ones are a bit wider, probably no big deal now). The minky wasn't that absorbent. Both inserts are fine for daytime. My new favourite stuffing is the big minky with the bamboo doubler from my SBish OBFs. It lasts as long as any pocket. I think the hemp inserts would be a wise choice, I just didn't want to buy anything else. But like PPs said, I'd plan on a different diaper for overnight.
And from a purely aesthetic angle, I don't like the look of rise snaps when the diaper is part of an outfit, so the internal elastics make fuzzibunz elite look as cute as a sized diaper.
I have the pre-2013 ones, but I love them. They are not able to handle overnights and IMO pockets are just not suited for overnights. I love that I can independently adjust the legs and waist my DD is tall and has a super narrow waist, but big thunder thighs.
My BG 4.0's I need the rise let all the way out for length, the waist as tight as possible and it gaps really bad in the thighs. My FB elites very rarely leak, and only if I don't change her soon enough. That said, every diaper fits every child differently. My BFF hates FB elites and loves her BG 4.0.
