What do you think of a temporal thermometer versus an ear or oral thermometer? I have an oral one already, but I'm looking at possibly getting an ear or temporal thermometer.

We take temps under the arm with an oral thermometer, same as our pedi.  We've never had an issue, so IMO, I'd save the money and stick with the oral you already have.

We use a rectal thermometer while they're babies and then an ear thermometer once they're older.

We take temps under his arm and only if it's high would we follow it up with a rectal temp. We didn't use an ear thermometer for DS1 until he was older and we will do the same for this DS.

The ear one is amazing!  It takes 2 seconds!  Yes, it's a little more pricey but worth the money I'm sure.  My girlfriend used hers all the way until her kids were in school.

We actually use a rectal thermometer.  From what I've read they are more accurate, especially with a squirmy infant.

We use an ear thermometer and if it's high, we do the rectal. I've been told the temporal is the least accurate of them all.
