I've been racking my brains to figure out the name for those sheets that people stick to the table temporarily out at restaurants to keep the table from getting messy and cleaner from just putting food on the table for your LO. Sorry if that was a bad description but does anyone know what they are called and where I can get some?TIA
Re: Plastic sheets that stick/cling to a table
Walmart and BRU carry them. They're over with the bibs, usually.
FWIW, I liked the Walmart ones better. They only had adhesive on the long sides and seemed to stick better. Though, the placemats won't work on every table. If the table has a texture, they won't stick. If the table is a nice wooden one, they can pull the finish off.
You can also get a Tiny Diner. It's a reusable silicone mat that rolls up. We have one and I ditched it after a couple of tries. I just couldn't ever get it to stick to tables. We apparently go to a lot of places with textured tables or tables that have tablecloths.

I can't speak for jsimm, For us it's a courtesy thing for the restaurant. DH and I were both servers for a while and cleaning up food from other people's kids is a bit...gross. We also did BLW, so my kid has been eating actually food at restaurants (not puffs or Cheerios) since he was 6 months old. The disposable placemats mean we can give him chicken, steak, pasta, whatever and the mess is contained to a certain area. When he's done, we can pull up the entire thing, wrap it up into a tidy package, and put it on one of our plates so the server can just dump it in the garbage without having to handle food that's been in my son's mouth. And the table itself isn't covered in scraps of food that I would feel responsible for cleaning up, the last thing I want to do when eating out.
We get ours at Babie R Us.
Also, we use our also as a courtesy mostly, so the mess is contained for the servers. Usually most of the mess is actually on the mat, so I find it easier than picking up without using them. I've actually had multiple waiters compliment us and thank us for being thoughtful and using them.
ETA: for spelling. My husband leaving for a week and leaving a 3/4 bottle of wine open was a bad idea.... sorry (and for the record DD is sleeping for the night...)
Eh, it takes approximately 3 seconds to wet a wipe and clean the table after cleaning my kid's hands and face.
And not using a disposable mat =/= discourteous to servers. I will either clean up the mess or use a reusable silicone mat when we dine out. They are so wasteful, I really didn't realize they were so popular.
This. And it's a lot faster for me to clean up after DD with these. Since getting these, it's made eating out much easier. I don't know why, but DD will keep her food on the mat, but is much messier without it. And i get mine at Target.
We use them whenever we go out.
Adventure's In Willyland
got mine from amazon. They are great. We even use them at home on our coffe table as a snack station.
