Doxycycline? Ugh antibiotics!

Anyone else taking doxycycline? DH and I are both taking it twice a day for 7 days. This morning was our first dose and it was awful! Thirty minutes after taking it we were both in separate bathrooms throwing up. Thank goodness for having a house with two bathrooms!!! Any tips for dealing with antibiotics?

Me: 32, DH: 34  / TTC since February 2011 / SA: all normal, HSG: all clear! / on Lovenox for anticardiolipid antibodies
4 IUIs with Clomid, Letrozole, and Menopur. All BFN.
9/12: lap / hysteroscopy: found and removed mild endometriosis, cervical polyp, and 2 para-tubular cysts

FET 1: Jan 22, 2014 of one 4AB blast and one 3BB blast (3 blasts on ice!)
BFP on HPT 4dp5dt, Beta #1 9dp5dt: 310, Beta #2 11dp5dt: 899
First u/s on 2/17/14: TWINS!!!!! both w/HBs of 114 at 6w3d, HBs 150 and 152 at 7w5d
5/27/2014: Team purple!!!!  EDD 10/10/2014 / 
Delivered by c-section at 32w0d 8/15/2014 due to preeclampsia/HELLP syndrome

Baby Girl 3lbs 5oz, 16 inches

    Sorry it is such a pain and hope it gets better. My first IVF cycle I developed an ulcer in my esophagus from the pill getting stuck and needed an endoscopy the day after ER. Since then I only take z-packs. Doctors don't seem to have a problem making the switch. Make sure you don't lay down after taking them, they said that's what caused my problem, and make sure to eat something with them. Good luck!

    Oh no! DH and I took it too but we didn't have any problems. Make sure you take it with food. I hope it gets better!

    DH: 30 MFI - low everything

    IUI #1: 11/5/12 BFN
    December IUI cancelled due to cyst
    IUI #2: 1/8/13 BFN

    IVF in April 2013 transferred one beautiful blast on 4/13
    Beta #1 4/22: BFP!! 33 Beta #2 54 Beta #3 70 Beta #4 83 Beta #5 105. Possible ectopic, MTX and M/C 5w4d

    FET 6/21 - Beta #1: 79 BFP!! Beta #2: 253 U/S 7/12: saw the sac! U/S #2 7/19 great heartbeat of 127!! U/S #3 heartbeat of 154! U/S #4 graduated to OB

    Yup dh n I took it too. My suggestion is take it with food n lots of water. Its horrid.
    TTC Since 112010 Naturally. Diagnose:PCOS(ME) + Low Motility(HIM). Started IVF+ICSI Cycle 12312. ER 27 & ET 210 two embies transferred. *BFN 1ST IVF CYCLE.* **Getting as healthy as possible and will try IVFICSI#2 again hopefully in April.** -- HAVE FAITH; LET GO & LET GOD --

    Ugh I had a similar experience! Can't stand that stuff, I told our RE that I'll never take it again. I know they say to take it with food, but the only way I could tolerate it was on an empty stomach and waiting a couple of hours to eat anything after taking it. I know that probably doesn't help much. Sad Hang in there!

    It makes me so sick too! I kept pepermints handy to try to calm my stomach.

    Me:29 DH:29  TTC since 1/11 Dx: unexplained IF/early DOR/immune issues 
    Feb'12- July'12-testing(all clear minus slight arcuate ute), 3 IUI with clomid all BFN
    8/30IVF#1 Antagonist protocol- ER 9/11-8R, 7M, 5F. 
    ET 9/14 2 embies transferred. 1 10cell Grade 4, 1 8cell Grade 4. No frosties. BFN
    IVF#2 Antagonist protocol plus baby aspirin- ER 12/5-16R, 12M, 8F!
    ET 12/10 5dt! 1 fully expanded blast & 1 early blast. No frosties. BFN
    3/13 hysteroscopy & polypectomy, Consulted w Dr. Kwak-Kim.

    DH and I were both given doxycycline at the binging of this cycle after I had a culture come back positive for a bacterial infection.  It made both of us sick to our stomach (I never threw up, but he did on several days).  

    My best advice is to take it with food.  I never felt bad after taking my evening dose after dinner, but neither of us are big breakfast eaters and took the med on an empty stomach the first few mornings. I found that applesauce worked great for avoiding upset stomach (I tried a few crackers one morning and it didn't help).

    September 2012: Start IF testing

    DH (32): SA is ok, slightly low morph, normal SCSA  Me (32): Slightly low progesterone, hostile CM, carrier for CF, Moderately high NKC, High TNFa, heterozyogous mutated Factor XIII, and +APA

    October 2012-May 2014: 4 failed IUIs, 3 failed IVFs, and 1 failed FETw/donor embryos

    November 2014: IVF w/ICSI #4 Agonist/Antagonist with EPP and Prednisone, Baby Aspirin, Lovenox, and IVIG for immune issues.  Converted to freeze all due to lining issues.  2 blasts frozen on day 6!

    January 2015: FET #2 Cancelled due to lining issues

    April 2015: FET #2.1

    Omg doxycycline is the worst!! My husband got an ulcer from it also and we where in the hospital over night!! He was in so much pain from taking it. Apparently you need to def take lots of water to flush it down and don't take it right before bed where you lie right down. Take with food and make sure to sit up for awhile afterwards! We will never take it again and this time around DH is taking Amoxicillin. Be careful!!!

    D&C on 8/12/13 - finally neg hcg 2 months later on 10/3/13.
    Saline Songram on 10/10/13 - found polyp :-( post-poned again.
    Hysteroscopy on 10/29/13.
    FET #2 - BFP!!!! :-) 
    Beta #1 - 265, Beta #2 - 692
    12/24-12/28 (6w) - lost our LO (2nd miscarriage in a row)
    RPL panel and Karyotyping; results all normal!
    Started bcp's 1/24/14; saline sonogram 1/30/14 - All clear!!
    IVF #2 02/15/14; ER 02/26/14 - freeze all due to mild OHSS. 
    7 blasts; PGD on all 7 - all 7 normal!!!
    FET #3 4/8/14; BFP!! :-)
    Beta #1 - 235, Beta #2 - 539
    1st u/s - It's TWINS!!!!
    2nd u/s- both babies measuring on track! Heartbeats of 118 and 122!!
    EDD: Christmas Day!!!

    My dr wont use Doxycycline they had us take a zpack...so sorry you are feeling so bad!

    Also try taking probiotics when using antibiotics.  Antibiotics end up killing off all the good flora in your intestines that you need to digest food.  If you take the probiotics, it helps keep the good stuff alive and will also keep you regular!
