Dx w/ PCOS

Hello all,

So I was diagnosed with PCOS this last week. I can't say I wasn't totally surprised, but to I am definitely having a hard times coming to terms with it. Maybe I was just in denial that this was going to be so challenging.

It also makes me look at my daughter very differently...I knew she was special, but now it seems as though she is EXTRA special.

So - my question to you all is if you have PCOS have you had good luck with metformin? My doctor prescibed that and also suggest that I cut wheat out of my diet.

Just looking for some encouragement.

BFP #1 7/31/09 - m/c 8/22/09

BFP #2 4/15/10 - DD born 12/31/10

TTC #2 since July 2012

BFP #3 9/24/12 - m/c 10/15/12

Dx PCOS/LPD 5/2013 - Rx Metformin (1500mg) and GF diet

BFP #4 6/10/13 - CP 6/12/13

8/2013 Rx for low dose Naltrexone

9/2013 DH's SA showed low motility/morph/viability

10/2013 Lap removed multiple areas of scar tissue adhesions and opened blocked tube.

BFP #5 1/24/2014 - EDD 10/3/2014

This could be it! Grow baby!

    Hi,

     I don't have personal experience, but a close friend who is seeing the same RE as me has PCOS.  She cut out wheat and lost about 25 lbs. She was also on metaforin and get pregnant on their third round of IUI with injectables. She is now due with twins this October so there are definitely success stories out there!  Good luck to you!

    5/07 - DD conceived naturally cycle #1

    8/09 - Started TTC #2
    11/10 - BFP!
    12/10 - MC (Chemical Pregnancy)
    2/11 - IUI #1 with clomid & trigger = BFN
    5/11- Switched to a Fertility Specialist, Dx with low progesterone and annovulatory, several rounds of
             clomid = BFN's
    4/12 - Exploratory Lap, Dx Stage III endo
    5/12 - 7/12 - Lupron injections to suppress AF and reduce scar tissue
    8/12 - Surgery to remove tissue, uterus and tubes clear!
    9/12-12/12 - More BFN's!
    1/13 - Referred to an RE
    2/13 - IUI #1 with injects and new RE = BFN
    3/13 - 4/13 - Break due to cysts
    5/13 - IUI #2 with injects (125ml bravelle + trigger) = BFP!!!
    EDD - 1/23/14

    I was diagnosed with PCOS in November.  I have been on Metformin since then, and am not pregnant yet.....I don't have long cycles and was diagnosed with "lean PCOS".....so I'm not sure that Metformin is really going to do much for me anyway.

     DD #1 BFP 6-1-06 after 8 months of TTC

    TTC #2 since July 2011

    1st RE Appt 11/28/12 DX with PCOS, HSG and SA=Normal

    Feb 2013-June 2013, 3 TI cycles and 2 IUI cyles with Letrozole, Ovidrel, and Dexamethasone=BFN!!!

    July 2013-August 2013....taking a break and praying for a miracle

    Fall 2013...will attempt IUI #3 and then seek 2nd opinion if it's a bust too

    I as well was dx with PCOS. RE is going to be putting me on Metformin. I had just lost 10lbs and my cycles became more regular. No gone crazy again this cycle. I've heard that Metformin is a good drug to be on. FX for all of us. The previous rounds of clomid I was on nothing happened. 

     

    The wheat ....omg I don't know how i'd do it. I would....but I love my carbs!

    I have PCOS and got pregnant with DS the first cycle on metformin. Good Luck!
