Bedtime

I just wanted to get your advice on what you all do during bedtime?

My LO is FF and her evening feed is at 6:30 and she normally falls asleep around 7:30-7:45, but then she wakes up 30-45 minutes later. I do a DF at 10:00 and she falls asleep almost immediately afterwards(10:30-10:45).  Most of LOs naps are at least an hour, and in the first part of the day- they are around 2 hours.

I want LO to know that 7:30-7:45 is bedtime and eventually that will be the last feeding for the night. Should I wake my LO so she doesn't sleep as long during the morning hours, or will she eventually learn that 7:30 is bedtime on your when she no longer needs the DF?

Re: Bedtime

  • Is she just waking quickly 30 mins Fter bedtime and your able to soothe her back to sleep. If that's the case, it sounds like she knows 730 is her bedtime. My LO gets up sometimes a half hour after I put her down too and then stays down for the night. I think she just needs a little help sometimes getting through that first cycle.

My LO is a bad napper, but does pretty well at night.  She is about 2 1/2 months old.  Around 8pm we turn off all the lights and turn the tv down very low.  I usually give her a bath between 8 - 8:30.  Then put lotion on her and her sleeper.  We than give her her nightime bottle and she usually goes down shortly after that.  We try to make the nightime feeding different from the rest.

Yeah she does wake up about 40 minutes after bedtime. So I check her diaper and change if need be and try and put her back down and all she does is fuss. I know she's not hungry or wet. I know it is just a tired cry because it goes in and out and stops and goes. But getting her to stay down is so hard. Last night she fell asleep around 7:30 and was up a little after 8. She didn't go back down until 9:15 and only slept for about 10 min increments then would fuss, then sleep, then fuss, until it was time for her DF at 10.

  • How long is she up before bed? Could be over tired...our LO takes a cat nap anywhere from 430 to 530 ...usually only napping for one sleep cycle. She is never awake for more than 2 hours before bed, preferably less. She goes down between 700 to 730 and stays down until her next feeding at 4 to 5 am. We started this around 5 weeks and she's gone down around that time since for her longest stretch
