cold crib sheets waking baby

Lastnight was the first time we tried sleeping in the crib. Eventually she was able to stay asleep but it took awhile. I felt like she went from being snuggly and warm in my arms to laying flat on chilly sheets and it kept waking her up. We closed the vent in her room (she had two open doors to let air flow) and she is bundled up in a sleep sack but I think her little head touching the cold sheets was a shock. Any tips???

Re: cold crib sheets waking baby

  • We have something we put on top of the sheet because DS spits up a lot and it saves us from having to change the sheets daily. It is not blanket material, but it is fuzzy and probably warmer than the sheet. It ties on 4 sides to the crib rails so you don't have to worry about it being unsafe

Also? Do you have a mattress pad under the sheet? That should warm things up some

  • Both of mine had this happen once they were no longer swaddled I felt like.  My remedy was to just have a blanket in my arms and them on it in my arms so that when I laid them down in the crib the blanket under them still.

I use these sheet savers too and they are wonderful. Definitely warmer the crib sheets.

Heating pad. Just lay it on top of the sheets, at the lowest setting. Give it a few minutes, ours takes ten minutes to warm up. Then just take it out before putting LO in the crib. Check the sheets first to be sure they didn't get too hot.

    Yep, I agree!

  • Use soft flannel sheets. Pottery Barn makes some nice ones. I prefer them (and still do) to the "cold" sheets. They may be harder to find this time of year (or you may find them on sale since they're off season)...however they do have chamois crib sheets here...they're probably softer/warmer:
