I have been EBF for 8 mos with DS and for his eczema went dairy and soy free for 13 weeks, then reintroduced and all was well. Yesterday I thought I'd start supplementing with formula, because supply is getting a little bit hit from work and I need to work and sleep a little more but, DS reacted terribly to the formula. He drank one oz and vommitted within 3 mins, then got hives all over and swelled. It was scary! We ended up at pedi, got an allergy test done for dairy, soy and egg blood and are waiting for results.
I'm very sad about this! My DD is just starting to outgrow her egg allergy she can have bake egg, and I was really hopeful for no allergies with DS. I think he has seasonal too. I guess it was wishful. The silver lining is that I already know all the substitutes for dairy and soy having done that diet myself, but I feel so sad for him!
Re: So sad!
you will get through this. I never thought we would when DS1 was diagnosed--and actually he had the SAME issue with formula--it was horrible. Same thing--my supply was getting low, he was nearing the age of 1 and I figured I'd try it--and nope.....
BUT you know what to do and today there are sooooo many dairy-free items out there, which is great. You can do it mama!!
