TTC after 35

Medicated IUI & follicle count/size question

This is my first medicated IUI. At my monitoring appointment on Friday am, I had used injectable follistim for 6 nights. I currently have 5 follicles, all <10 mm. I know everyone is different, but is this a pathetically low number? I just want to understand how bad my situation is. When the nurse told me the results, I was distracted by the news that insurance has denied my coverage, so I didn't ask her any questions about assessing my progress. I know that my estrogen level has been going up "nicely" through the monitoring period.
AMA.

Re: Medicated IUI & follicle count/size question

  • You don't want too many for an iui increases chances of multiples, I think 10 sounds good, a little heads up. A week ago I had my iui were I had several large follicles, after the iui I apparently ovulated and since it was, multiple follicles it was really uncomfortable. It scared the crap out of me because I didn't know what was going on, don't want you to feel the scare the way I did.
I wish you lots of luck!
