So lo is awake after 4 am feed. Grunts and groans and whines really loud so were up for the day . Then 3 yr old wakes up at 530 uhh. Oh and I pump at 330 am. Anyone know how to get lo to go back to sleep? What's with all the grunting ?
My LO does this too. Usually the grunting means he has to poop. He usually will go back to sleep but he'll wake up and want to nurse every hour until DD wakes up for the day. I'm lucky that she sleeps until 8 or 8:30.
I'm not sure how old your LO is but I don't think there's much you can do except keep the room as dark as possible and keep trying to put him back to sleep.

Not sure what the grunting is for. Maybe LO still has gas or discomfort from the feeding?
My LO usually wakes up around that time to feed and has a hard time falling back asleep. She grunts and whines when I put her back in her cradle to sleep. I've been guilty of putting her in the bed next to me, using a pacifier, and rubbing her, which soothes her to sleep. Now I pull the cradle up right next to my bed so I can do the same but without her in the bed with me. It's not as soothing to her, takes her a little longer to fall asleep, but I don't want us to get used to having her in the bed. White noise is also essential.
Our LO does this sometimes, too. Like a PP said, I think sometimes the grunts are because baby is trying to push out a poop. My DS sometimes grunts in his sleep. When he is fussy and won't go back to sleep after a MOTN feeding, I stand in his room and bounce him around, sometimes singing to him, until he gets sleepy enough to put back down. Sometimes if he's not having it, I give him a pacifier while I am holding him/bouncing him, but I have to kind of hold it in his mouth for him at this point.

why are you pumping at 330 am? esp if LO is nursing at 4am, maybe she's not going back to sleep because she's hungry (because she's nursing after you've just pumped). pump during the day and sleep at night!
