NGPR: Need Ideas...

DH and I are throwing an 80's themed New Year's Eve party. The idea came from some of our friends that dressed up all 80's for our Halloween party...we all had so much fun dressing up and I though it would be cool to do it again for New year's too.

So I need help with some 80's themed ideas..decorations, food, drinks, games, anything....

Suggestions?

Themed drinks are always fun....like a Pretty in Pinktini .You could also do a game where you have to finish an eighties movie line.  Sounds like a great idea for a party!

My friends and I did an 80's themed prom night a few years ago. It was so much fun. We did an "Under the Sea" Dance Theme and all of the girls bought crazy 80's prom dresses from ebay, really cheap.

we used a fish themed shower curtain for the background of the "prom pics" and had a few contests and games..... Played really cheesy 80's music.... voted on King and Queen....

CBS did a "5 decades in 5 Days" on The Early Show. Go to their website and I'm sure they'll have some ideas or tidbits to spur on the thinking. Have fun. I LOVE decade parties.

80s stuff is awesome. I recently went to a place in AC called Boogie Nights which is an 70s-80s dance club and it was the best EVER!!! It's a really good time. I don't think they really had any special drinks related to the theme but they had pics all around of the things that were big then like pics of the smurfs, partrige family, mario bros, punky brewster!!! I highly recommend if you're ever in AC that you check that place out!!! Good luck with your party and if I think of anything I'll let you know. Definitely wear leg warmers!

Make a CD of 80's hits and play name that tune.

Have games like Operation, Connect Four, Twister, out in various places for people to indulge

Decor stuff, I remember a lot of neon and animal prints....you could also try to find some old school posters to decorate your walls with (i.e. Culture Club, the two Corey's, Menudo, Boy George, etc.)

I love the name that tune idea...and the prom type picture set up, I was thinking about that already too....definitely knew we needed a Corey poster somewhere...

Some 80's movie and band posters would be awesome. Maybe you can score some copies of Big Bopper from eBay or something.

You could arrange 80's karaoke!  Include bands named above, plus, Milli Vanilli, Tiffany, NKOTB, etc.  Prizes could be hair scruncies, banana clips and jelly bracelets.
