Tailbone protrusion?

I have asked this once before, I think, but it was a long time ago and I don't remember.

I gave birth vaginally, LO is now 13 months old, and my tailbone is seriously messed up. It hurts terribly when I sit a certain way too long or just shift while sitting the 'wrong way'

And it is even difficult to take a comfortable bath because my tailbone will bump the bottom of the tub and as you can imagine it hurts a lot!

Also, my lower back is messed up from the pregnancy and birth. It's like the lower vertebrae in my back are out of place. I can't lay flat on the ground anymore!!!! I refuse, with how much pain it puts me in, my vertebrae will POP, POP, POP every time I try to get my back flat...it's just not happening now.

How many of you experience these kinds of problems?

Can a second pregnancy/birth 'fix' or 'reverse' the problems?

And finally, are there any other things I can do to help or fix these problems? Maybe yoga or a chiropractor???

TIA!

Re: Tailbone protrusion?

  • Pregnancy can throw your hips and back all out of whack. I would see a chiropractor to fix this issue. I would imagine a second pregnancy would only exacerbate the problem further. FWIW, I saw a chiropractor during my pregnancy to keep everything in alignment and I had a very quick labor and delivery. I have continued to go periodically over the past year, and it has solved a variety of issues that have popped up. He told me it's very important to make sure everything goes back in place after childbirth, especially the hips. I went through 30 years of my life scared to see a chiropractor because I thought they were all a bunch of quacks but now I can't imagine life without it.

I was having lower back/hip issues post pregnancy.  I went to the chiro and to physical therapy.  It is much better than it was.  For me I had to have the PT to strengthen all of the muscles to help keep me in alignment after the chiro visits.
  • Thank you all for your advice and for sharing your stories with me (: I will look into seeing a physical therapist and/or chiropractor and see if my health insurance will cover either, because otherwise I probably won't be able to fix the problem for a while..
