Success after IF

clomid question

I got pg with my son using 50mg of clomid.  We are now ttc for #2 and I haven't O'ed on 50mg.  Has this happened to anyone else?  I convinced my OB to give me 100mg before sending me to a RE.

Is your OB monitoring you?  Meaning, internal ultrasounds and follicle checks?  Clomid unmonitored can be very dangerous, and I'm pretty sure most of us on this board would recommend that you get to an RE.  It's not worth your health or the risk of high order multiples.  Speaking as someone who suffered very significant side effects on Clomid - which ranged from minor the first few rounds, to dangerous the 4th round, I highly recommend you go straight to an RE and leave the infertility treatments to the infertility experts.  I don't mean this mean or negative, I'm honestly looking out for your health.

Agreed. OBs are great once you are already pregnant but it is the RE who is the expert at getting you pregnant. GL!

  • My OB gave me monitored clomid and I was successful in conceiving DS after 4 cycles, the last dose being 150mg. In TTC2 we started clomid 150mg again and well, we are still trying. After I maxed out my 6 lifetime cycles my OB sent me to a RE. I was ovulating on 150mg the second time around but for whatever reason didn't get pregnant. Things are different with every pregnancy. If your OB is monitoring you and you like them and they're comfortable with upping your dose than I say go for it. If you're not being monitored I agree with the pp's! Either way, good luck!

  • I got pg with ds using 50mg of clomid and it was our second IUI. To TTC number 2 I am now on my third cycle. I think conceiving every child can be different.

I know there is another bumpie who got pg with her DS with IUI and had to do ivf to conceive number 2.
