Non-ceiling fan

Hi! We're looking to get a fan for the nursery since the upstairs gets pretty warm in the summer.  We never got one for DD, but since DS will be a June baby, it seems more important. Does anyone know if an non-ceiling fan also helps prevent SIDS?  Would a tower fan or normal oscillating stand fan be just as good?  I'm looking for something to help with air circulation without creating a draft. Does anyone like a specific fan model? TIA!

I have one of those Dyson bladeless ones and he's super fascinated by it now. Our fan doubles as a white noise machine so I got one that I could leave in there safely once he started moving around and could stick fingers in things.

We just bought an oscillating tower fan from Target for like $30 for the same reason. I think it was this one:

    yah we have something similar

This is a really good idea!

Any fan that circulates air reduces the risk of SIDS. It doesn't have to be a ceiling fan. I too was wondering about a fan that would be safe. The bladeless one is a great idea. I had originally been looking for ones with really small holes that tiny fingers didn't get caught in, but hadn't found anything yet.
  • I think it should help just the same, it's all about air circulation. We have a small, cheap, floor fan in the nursery and it moves air nicely and is fabulous for white noise.

The blade less Dyson would be great (I wish I could afford Dyson anything!), but our $10 fan works good too!
