DS almost 15 weeks is generally a good sleeper, but as we head into the 4 month wakeful period, he's been waking multiple times for no apparent "reason" not hungry, wet, in pain, etc, so we have decided to try sleep training once he hits 4 months. He is also still swaddled at night as his arms wake him and then he has a hard time resettling.
Should we take away the swaddle and sleep train at the same time two birds, one stone and he will have his hands available for soothing as he tends to like to suck on his fingers? Or is it "mean" to take away his swaddle at the same time we're sleep training?
FWIW, he does not yet roll, but is VERY close to going back to belly.
Re: Deswaddle Sleep Train
Personally, I would take one step at a time. We deswaddled DS last week, but it took us over 2 weeks to do it. We did one arm out first for just naps, then for all sleeps. After a week of success, we did both arms out for naps. Then one night we took the leap and haven't looked back since. He sleeps 7-8 hours (14 weeks old) and wakes up early morning for a feeding, then is back down until 9 or sometimes 10 am.
I can hardly wait to sleep train. He goes down at night just fine, but he needs to learn to put himself to sleep for naps. It will probably be another month or two before we attempt it, but I am so looking forward to getting my arms back.
