Mamas who have BF or are BFing - did/do you guys start feeling strangely sentimental right before letdown?  I swear, I can predict when I'm about to get letdown because I'll start feeling all emotional all of a sudden and then I'll realize what's up and brace myself for that punched-in-the-boob feeling.

Am I a weirdo?

I haven't noticed, but could it be that your feeling emotional is what's causing the letdown?

Yup! I got a relaxed/sigh of relief happy feeling when I would have a let down. When I weaned at 13m that was one of the hardest parts.. Not having that warm and fuzzy feeling many times a day.

Lazy research has me concluding that Oxytocin is responsible for this weird feeling, lol.  Friggin' Oxytocin, just one of those hormones that does flippin' everything!

But I guess the surge of Oxytocin that ultimately causes the letdown response is what causes that surge of sentimentality too.  Neat!

Huh. Interesting. Looks like Nature's way to encourage mothers to nurse their offspring. Pretty cool.
