Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

CIO for 30 minutes, then stays up for hours!! :(

WHAT IN THE WORLD?!  DS will cry anywhere from 30 - 45 minutes, and then just play and roll around in his crib.  Would you let DS just play and roll around for 2 hours (like until 10:30)  or would you go in and help DS fall asleep?

  • Let him play!  DS did this for a while around 11 months I think.  He would sit up there for sometimes an hour + before a nap, then sleep for like an hour, and the same at bedtime.  We could hear him on the monitor just chatting with his stuffed animals, playing with his toys, etc, but eventually he would fall asleep.  It lasted like a few weeks.  Now he has a pretty specific way of letting us know when he's tired, and we go up, lay him down, and he'll roll himself up in his blanket, and fall asleep.  I think it's really important that he figures out how to fall asleep on his own and that's just what he's doing up there!

  • Good to know :)  Last night it took TWO hours!!  I just don't get it!  Hopefully it passes soon!  I hate knowing that he is so sleepy and just won't sleep!

Sometimes my kid will go to sleep within ten minutes of us putting him in bed.nbsp; Sometimes he sings and jumps up and down and plays for an hour or two.nbsp; We don't go in unless he starts screaming.nbsp; That's very rare and usually means something is actually wrong.
this is what we do. DS also has a pretty specific screams for when he is just mad or when something is actually wrong.
