I'm curious if anyone has experienced the 12 week growth spurt earlier, like at 10 weeks? Is it any different than the 6 week growth spurt? how long will it last?
DD is 10 and half week and she has been very cranky, constantly eating or crying. Her sleep had gotten so much better finally and now for the past 2 nights she has been waking up every hour to hour and half. She only eats for about 3-4 minutes (EBF) but then it takes half an hour or longer to put her back to sleep. It's like we are back to week 5 all over again.
She had her 2 month vaccines last Wednesday and she was fussy for a few days but by Sunday I thought she was back to normal.
I don't know what I am looking for here other than venting I guess and seeing if others have hit the 12th week growth spurt? and if they're experiencing what I am experiencing.
I want my sweet happy daughter back. ![]()
Re: 12 week growth spurt?
Ah interesting. She was due March 10th and born on March 3rd. We went through a rough growth spurt from week 5 to 7 to be honest.
Weather has been pretty the same here so I don't think it's the weather.
I thought maybe she is teething. I know it's early but she is drooling and has a hard spot on her gum and my niece had teeth by 3 months so it's not unheard of in my family..but I don't know..
She also refuses to take a bottle (one day she decided she doesn't like bottles anymore) so it's pretty exhausting, even DH can't give me a break and she wants to eat constantly...we've tried everything to get her to take a bottle again, but have had no success.
I feel like a terrible mom for complaining so much...

I have noticed that every child is different. It sounds that your baby IS going thru transition of 12 week growth spurt early. My first born had gone right on time with charts ( per thewonderweeks book), however my second now 10week old is already gone/going thru his 12wk transition and doing much of what babies should do at 12 weeks. You never know you might have a wonder child
Regarding him refusing bottle, it is possible that he does not like the bottle, you may try a different brand/type/style.... . My first had refused the bottle between 2-3 month - he was breastfed. At about 11 months I was forced to make him take a bottle at night since he refused breastfeeding at 7 months and did not drink milk in any form during daytime at all. He stopped needing that extra 2 bottles eventually and gradually by himself around 13-15 months of age.
Also eating alot is a classic sign of growth spurt, so bear with it,,, it will come to pass in another week or so and you'll have your sunshine again for a while.
PS I have downloaded a the wonderweeks app and it has great info at your fingertips. Good luck!
