He doesn't eat it...but he rubbed his eye right after application, and I had to flush his eye out, and it was red and puffy the whole time at the zoo on Sunday. Poor little guy.
I don't think you can really stop them, my LO is teething and keeps biting on his fingers. I just use a chemical-free sunblock from the Honest Company, so at least I know what he's putting in his mouth.
How about apply it to the tops of her hands but not the fingers. Unless she chews on her palms... Besides, I really don't think that the amount you put n their hands can harm them if they stick their fingers in their mouth. I would be more worried about all the nasty germs on their hands and not so much the sunblock...

She only chews her index finger when she's hungry. Otherwise she bites her upper palm between thumb and index fingers.
I'm probably over thinking it.
