post partum sciatica?

any one else dealing with this?  At least I assume that's what it is.  I have shooting nerve pain that starts in my butt thigh area and shoots down my thigh.  Only on the left side though.  Some days it's so painful I can't even walk.  I thought thought this would go away when the baby came, I didn't even have it this bad when I was pregnant!

I have a lot of sacro iliac pain and sciatica that started after a miscarriage and continued into my last pregnancy. I ended up seeing a sports medicine doctor who got it back into alignment and warned me it might come back. I think postpartum your pelvis starts going back to its normal size/shape which can cause some new problems. Mine is so bad I was having back spasms and couldn't pick up my baby, so I'm back in with the doctor and doing lots of stretches. I'm hopeful that if I can fix it, it'll stay away now.

Yes! And it stinks. I've been going weekly to both a chiropractor and osteopath. After 9 weeks, I can say its starting to improve. Every now then I get horrible stabs of pain, but I can at least stand up after sitting now. I've heard that acupuncture helps as well.
  • So true as suggested above, your body is getting back to normal, or NEW normal so your hips shift and may cause pain. I had gone to chiropractor who specialized in pregnancy cases. Hope it helps, try to get a referal from your OBGYN to one. Hope you'd feel better soon. PS I also did some stretching that helped and I remember my trainer mentioned specialized massage can put things in order as well.
