I've always heard first haircut is at 1. What is the basis for this? Is it just tradition? My DH is driving me crazy bc DS hair is getting a little long. It's covering his ears and getting long in the back. I keep telling him it's fine, but he doesn't like for his hair to get even close to that state so he doesn't want DS to either...
Re: First haircut
She is sooooo cute! (Even without hair).
I still haven't gotten my 2.5 year old's official hair cut. She has beautiful curls, and I don't want to have someone screw them up, so I have been trimming it myself here and there.
My DD is 2.5 and still hasn't had a haircut. My reasoning is mostly that I don't want it screwed up. I do not want her to have that blunt bang, bob look that I see on every.single toddler that has had a haircut.
We'll probably just buzz DS's hair once it's longer. Right now it could use some trimming around his ears but I'm not too concerned about it.
Cut as required.
My DD didn't have enough hair for a real cut until almost age 3. DS has short all around, with long on top-front. I doubt he will need a cut for at least a year...
There is no rule about having to wait til they are 1 to cut their hair, however I have heard of this before. Most people just cut when they want though. My DS got his first haircut at 7 months, second at 9 1/2 months, and his third just a few days ago, a week before turning 1.
