NT scan tomorrow

Tomorrow I go in for my NT scan and I'm so scared. Can anyone who had it give me a heads up on what to expect. I think my nerves stem from me being 37 and we hear so many stories about how our eggs are basically doomed  after 35. I'd like to think we are smart for waiting until we are mature and steady enough to raise a LO . Thank you in advance for your advice ladies!

It's not too much different from a regular u/s. They are just measuring the baby's neck. When I had mine the baby wouldn't get in the correct position for them to get an accurate reading, so they didn't have any data to add the the screening.

Good luck with yours and don't worry too much. I know the statistics they throw out at us are scary, but the odds really are in our favor for a perfectly healthy baby. I'm 41 years old and just got my results back from my screening yesterday and everything is great. Just think positively ::mobile smiley::

Exactly what Zen said.  They just did a regular u/s and took a lot of measurements.  They concentrated on measuring the amount of fluid along the spine and back of neck.  They also looked at the heart and made sure there were no shadows.  It took a little longer than the average u/s because they were stopping and measuring.  Also, my twin A was not cooperating and decided to moon the technician for most of the time.  A finally flipped to its side and was measured.

Try not to be too nervous. Like the ladies have said, they will just be taking some measurements. Have you done bloodwork for the screening already? I did mine about a week before hand and then right after the scan the perinatologist met with us to discuss the results. Most likely everything will be absolutely fine, but I think that doctors want everyone to have as much information as possible.
