First, I have to apologize for always posting "what should I do" type questions. Aside from DH and my poor RE who gets tons of emails from me, I have nobody in RL to ask these things, and I value all of your input and experiences.
Last week, RE reevaluated my FSH levels since the last time it was tested was back in August. She basically said that we are looking for similar numbers and no drastic changes up or down to indicate DOR. Since I was going in for blood work, I asked to have my vitamin D checked due to a prior post (thank you for the tip!). Turns out I'm also deficient in Vitamin D and was prescribed 50,000 mg 1x per week. I'll be re-tested in 2 months to see if my levels have improved.
So my question is do you ladies think I should continue with my plan of Follistim + Ovidrel + IUI next cycle or should I give the vitamin D a chance to kick in and see if that helps me conceive naturally? I was hoping to start IUI over summer so that I won't be stressed due to work.
I think I'm still in denial. My meds were ordered today and it feel surreal. I am excited but it's going to cost an arm and a leg (our insurance doesn't cover IF). Thoughts? Thanks in advance for any help!
Re: Advice
I don't have any real advice as I don't know much about vitamin D deficiency, but I would ask your RE what they think. I'm also a sucker for Google searches, so I would Google the relationship between Vitamin D and ttc.
I'm getting anxious about waiting, so I would go ahead and get started with IUI, as it can only help. But, I've also been on an extended break due to DH becoming epileptic.
TTC #2 since 6/2010
10/2012 DH diagnosed with Epilepsy
A few failed IUIs summer 2012 and 2013.
DH taking clomid and waiting to see if he needs another vericocele repair.
Hoping for a 2015 baby or babies.
Wishing, hoping, waiting.
That is such a tough call. For me, it would depend on the financial situation. If you have a lot of extra money to spend on IF (we don't have that luxury), I would go ahead with the IUI. We are lucky to have IUI coverage, but if I were in your shoes without that coverage, I would try naturally for a couple of cycles. If you can only budget a limited number of IUIs, I would want them to have the best chance for success.
Good luck to you with whatever you decide!
