waiting to hear back from an interview

I had an interview Friday.  When I scheduled it she told me it was the only day she was interviewing and I saw in the sign in book she had a few people in before me.  She seemed to really like me.  She said they were originally looking for an assistant reading teacher, but since I have several years experience teaching and I'm a reading specialist, she wanted to talk to her director and move some things around to see just what they could offer me.  She also said she'd need to contact my references so I had to get back to her with the phone number for one.  I emailed her the information and a thank you on Sunday.

I know it's kind of silly, but she seemed so interested and ready to make me an offer I expected to hear right back from her, but I don't think she's even contacted my references yet.  I've already sent her a thank you, so you think it would be expectable to follow up again?  How long would you wait?

I think it is too soon to follow-up.  It would look too desperate to me, if someone followed up that quickly.

Did she tell  you when she was going to make the decision? Normally, after an interview, they'll say something about that. I personally would wait until around that time limit, and follow up around that time frame. In my industry, it would be at least a week or two.
