Car Seat Question

Another few months and DS will have outgrown his infant car seat.  So DH and I are trying to figure out what to do next.  Currently DD is in a convertible car seat.  She's still RFing though she's getting close to exceeding the height limit so it's only a matter of time until we will have to turn her FFing.  Anyway, I am wondering if we should get a five point booster for her or just buy another convertible car seat for DS.  Are the convertibles safer than the five point boosters?  TIA

If you are going to turn her FF anyway, and I can't see her age on mobile, get a seat that is FF with a harness that converts to a booster. If you want to keep her RF get her a new RF high limit seat. There is no safety difference between a ff convertible and a ff harness to booster in harness mode. RF is definitely safer to at least age 4 if you can/want to do so.

She's 2 1/2.  I hadn't thought about getting a convertible with a high seat limit, that's an idea!  Are there any that you would recommend?

  • What convertible do you have now? How big is she?

    I have DD2 rear facing in a Diono Radian and a Graco MySize. She's 2y10m, 34 lbs, and 39".

We have two Radians and love them.  My older DD RF in it until she was 3.5.

  • We have a Diono Radian RXT. DS is almost 3.5 years, 31 lbs, 37 inches and still rfing with plenty of room to grow. We love the seat and bought it when DS was close to the rfing limits in his other comfortable.
