S/O convertable Carseats

Hey All !

I mainly lurk but I come out from time to time when I have a question Wink

My son is 4 months and I think in a month or two I'll be switching over to a convertible car seat.  If we would want to go somewhere and I'm not driving, is it ever safe to strap them into a car without the base in their infant seat?

TIA!

  • yes. the base is just for convenience. the seat should have directions to strap it in

We've done the seat without the base in my mom's car. You basically use the seat belt across it and there should be a spot to thread the strap through. In my mom's car we pulled it all the way to activate the seatbelt lock feature. I definitely felt like it was a little sturdier when it was on the base but like you said it's nice when you're going in other cars.

  • Great, thanks!
