I know Empire posted a question but I had to ask this...
When you eat cake do you eat it with the frosting or do you eat the frosting first or do you leave the frosting for last or do you don't eat the frosting? :P
I eat it together and always choose the piece with the most frosting. Buttercream is food of the gods.
If I'm making the cake I make a round layer cake usually because there is a bigger frosting to cake ratio. The whole point of cake is to be a vessel for the icing

I eat it together, but will save some so the last bite has a higher icing to cake ratio. It also depends on the icing. Cream cheese is my favorite and I could eat that plain. I also like a good buttercream. I'm not a fan of the overly sweet icings.
DH got some cupcakes for Mother's Day and DD likes to eat the icing off and then wants some of mom and dad's icing...I have learned to eat very quickly.
I scrape off half the icing and then eat it together. I think there is always too much frosting on cakes. Unless its butter cream..... Then I eat all of it.

Depending on the cake and frosting, I either eat it together or scrape the frosting off and don't eat it. I hate buttercream frosting, but I like cream cheese or chocolate.

This! Haha! Sometimes I eat the bottom half of the cake first then eat the top half with the frosting because its a better frosting to cake ratio.

"What did my fingers do before they held you? What did my heart do with it's love?"
I eat them together in a method that achieves my preferred icing to cake ratio which is about 3/4 cake to 1/4 icing.
Cream cheese is the best followed by buttercream, but I'm not a snob, I'll take the whipped frosting too : )
Buttercream...only eat the cake
Whipped...eat together
Cream cheese...save frosting for last
