We finally have our official Dx. DS is already in OT for the SPD. He is getting worse with his impulse control. While on vacation he kicked me hard enough to leave a very large bruise. Then he melts down because he is embarrassed by his behavior. The crying can last 5min to over an hour and he hides if there is someone else around. At least this has only happened a few times at school. DS2 is coping his bad behavior now turning my house into a crying screaming mess all the time. Meals are a disaster because now DS2 won't even stay in his chair.
That is the short version. We have our follow up with the doc today now that we have his Dx. What questions do I need to ask? How are you treating ADHD in young child? He is extremely bright and scored very high on his tests with the psych, but his school work puts him on the low end of normal for his age. Next year will be all day school and I am nervous for him. He wants to please so bad, but can't. His current teacher is helping me figure out getting a 504 for next year.
I have tried adding omega 3 vitamins and he every kind he spits out. Even gummies. He has major food issues.
Re: 5YO with ADHD, SPD and Moderate Anxiety
honestly I am not familiar with all your abbreviations since I am pretty new to this. I do know that I have a list of tests performed and forms filled out by family and teachers. This process took us a few months and i think I feel more lost then when we started.
thank you. very helpful. we do soccer, gymnastics and swim right now. I have to figure out summer yet. we are out of town a lot and activities get harder.
it is so hard to see him struggle. he wants to be good but he just cant control it.
DS1 wants to play soccer but I'm concerned that his SPD and possible ADD will get majorly in the way. He is just so impulsive that it's insane. We tried a very beginner t-ball thing last summer and it was a disaster. He was walking in the way of swinging, running around, tackling people--horrible.
How do you do it with them? I'm so curious!!! I'd love for DS1 to do karate and soccer.

Notes:
As far as soccer goes it isn't a big hit. I think t-ball would be too much waiting around. Swim and gymnastics are huge hits.
