NWM - duvet covers

I just got a duvet cover for the first time and I'm having a hard time putting it on.  It's a kind size, and with 2 cats and a toddler, I'm washing it almost every weekend.  I find that it's a complete PITA to put back together. Any tips or tricks on how to do this easily?  Even though I tie the corners, it's still coming out very lumpy and uneven.

  • I don't wash mine that often, but I turn the duvet cover inside out, tie the corners grab it and "flip it" which makes it easier to put on.

  • This is probably not going to make sense: First, I lay out the duvet cover.  Then, I line up the insert at the opening.  I put the far corners of the insert in first(the side furthest from the opening), and get them situated in the corners of the duvet.  Then, I stuff the rest of the insert in and line up the other two corners.  Then, I button up the duvet, hold up one side(duvet + insert), and give it a good shake or two to get everything distributed.  Not sure if this is the easiest method, but it's never lumpy or uneven.

This is what I do too.

I do the inside out flip too.  If you really need to you can use a big binder clip on the corners to hold it in place while you pull the rest of it down (my roommate in college did this).
