Hypnobabies

Hi All,

I'm committed to a natural birth.  As you can guess from the title, I'm considering Hypnobabies.  I have experience with hypnosis and am comfortable relaxing.  I don't know whether I should go to a hypnotist (or hire a hypnodoula), since I have experience with hypnosis, or take Hypnobabies or both. 

The pro of Hypnobabies is that I can meet people in class.  My concern is that it might be hypnosis "lite" and I want to really use hypnosis - not just try some relaxation techniques labeled hypnosis. 

Any thoughts?  Anyone have any experience with hypnobabies, hypnobirthing or any other program?

 Any insight is much appreciated!  I need to make a decision in the next month...

Having used hypnobabies I can definitely see it as being "hypnolite". After having my son a few years ago and talking with a person who uses hypnosis in their counseling practice their opinion was that you really need the scripts to be individualized and tailored to you and that some scripts that allow you to be open to pain versus not feeling pain would help to manage better too. Just my thoughts. Curious what others have to say. I still use the hypnobabies stuff and will use parts of it for this birth. Definitely helped me get to nearly 9cm without too much trouble...I pretty much lost my focus after that pointe.

FTM here so I don't know how it will work at the end but I am doing the self-study course and I feel pretty confident about what I am able to do now, like blocking movement of my body and feeling numb everywhere. I have only done 2 from 5 weeks of the course so I guess it will be enough for me.

 I plan to use hypnobabies for my next.  Hypnobirth I've heard is the "lite" version and hypnobabies is much more in depth and detailed.  There is a thread at the top explaining the differences between the two also. 

This forum is so helpful!  Thank you for posting this!  I am signed up for a Hypnobabies class but am considering a doula with only Hypnobirthing experience.  I was really confused about the difference.

I didn't even think of a hypno-doula.  I wasn't even really considering a doula.  Good to think about.  Hiring a hypnotist is expensive.  Going to class and hiring a doula may come out about the same.
