Jogging Stroller

Is there a jogging stroller that is appropriate for babies under the age of 6 months?

We have the City Elite jogging stroller, which isn't to be used until about 6 months old.  I've been using the baby bjorn when we go for walks, but it'd be nice to be able to push rather than carry this growing baby!

Re: Jogging Stroller

  • You can't jog with a baby until they are 6 months old, no matter the stroller. The City Elite is actually not a jogging stroller, anyway, so you can't  use it for jogging. But if you just mean for taking walks, you should be able to use it now. I  have a Classic, which was essentially replaced by the Elite, and the seat reclines back almost flat, so it's fine to use right away for walks.

  • Is there an infant car seat adaptor you can buy to use for walks? I have one for my BOB that I just had to purchase separately.

Otherwise, no, all jogging strollers are going to say they aren't for running use until 6 months old for head and neck control reasons.

  • Can't the infant car seat be put into the jogging stroller or is that still a danger to the baby the car seat is compatible with the stroller? I'm not looking to run marathons but had been thinking about starting to run with the baby a mile or so...

  • I'll probably get reamed for this, but I jog with my 10 week old. I just attach her car seat to our BOB and go. I only run on level concrete and keep it to under 30 minutes. Her head is perfectly still and she just snoozes the whole time.

I started running with my 7 week old last week, too...only on level concrete, too...her head bounced around a lot more just walking with a regular stroller than running with a jogging stroller, using the infant seat attachment for both.

  • Ok glad I'm not crazy for thinking others were running with their babies who are under 6 months

This. It definitely rumbles more on walks than runs. I've been running with mine since maybe 5 weeks. He loves it and snoozes or looks around at the world. I love seeing his little smiles at me while I run.

  • Like a few others said you can run/jog with them under 6 months with a car seat adapter and head support. I have a BOB and have been running since my LO was 5 weeks. Obviously no trail running yet, I've stuck to bike paths and road.

  • Thanks for the input, girls.

Unfortunately, the car seat we have (Graco Snugride 40) doesn't have an adapter for the City Elite so I was reluctantly considering buying another stroller just so that I can take her on our local trail.  We also have the Graco click and go stroller but it definitely isn't for off roading.

    The search continues!

I have the same carseat and use the bob with the adapter. However, I know bobs are expensive. Maybe try Craigslist or a local children's consignment store? You could Craigslist your stroller too to make up the difference.
