Cloth Diapering

Help please...

My diapers are leaking. Mostly my tots bots that I JUST bought on earth day. They were fine and all the sudden they are NOT holding the pee. The insert is dry and the liner around is dripping. I know I have hard water. I have been washing with tiny bubbles since day 1. I use kissas fitted, swaddles bees 2.0 and thirsties pocket and I have two blueberry pockets I just got on earth day. All my other diapers seem to be ok. Do I need to strip? If so how do you strip with hard water. I've heard several different opinions. I am also thinking of switching to tide. Feeling a bit discouraged....I really love cloth diapering but I HATE when my LO leaks and cries in the middle of the night because pee leaked onto his clothing. I like the tots bots for night time because it is super soft and seemed to work great when we first got them. TIA ladies, I apperciate any help!

  • If the inserts are dry they are repelling instead of absorbing.   You could try to soak in a half package of RLR laundry treatment- overnight even.  Then rinse, rinse, rinse until there are no bubbles.  Then repeat if you want to.

I generally switch up detergents to try to combat build up.  I'll get one kind then when it's all used up I go to another kind.   I usually do Tide, an eco kind, Tide, a different eco kind... whatever is available at the store I'm shopping at.

I do this with my hair to try to combat build up and figure it can't hurt to do it with diapers, too.
