No longer actively waiting, but we were never given a wait time. The range was just too wide at our agency. For everyone who waited a year, others waited weeks. They felt the ratio of placements to waiting families, and the longest wait, were more indicative of what we should expect
I am assuming you are asking about wait time for domestic infant adoption? If so, yes, our agency quoted an average wait time of 11 months two years ago. It has now increased to 15 months. I think it has largely been impacted by the increased interest in domestic adoptions as many international programs have closed or have experienced a significantly decreased number of referrals in recent years.
We were told 6 mos-2 years. Quite a range! But the agency (domestic infant adoption) did tell us that the more open we were with regards to race, sex, alcohol/drug exposure the quicker it usually takes. We did put some restrictions on what we thought we could handle but still only had to wait 5 mos.
Our agency had an avg wait time of 20-22 months. I brought my son home in 2.5 months. So while we thought we were going to be waiting what would have felt like an eternity, it wasn't. AND we found out that several other couples who were approved around the same time we were also had babies placed with them shortly after as well.
Re: Average wait
When we adopted DD, wait was averaged at 9-12 months.
For #2, we are using the same agency and their average wait is now 12+.
